Monkey Business WorkshopOpen Space, 510 Fort St.
Saturday June 26 at 1pm
Fee, $10
Artist, Tracey Nelson (Victoria)
In conjunction with her show Walls of Intrigue and Cabinets of Curiosity, local artist Tracey Nelson is sharing her extensive knowledge in the art of constructing monkeys.
Come to Open Space on Saturday, the 26th of June at 1 p.m. for a hands on sock monkey
making workshop.
Walls of Intrigue and Cabinets of Curiosity makes the most of our shared delight in monkey business. Nelson places “monkey” imagery at the centre of her installation, bringing the nostalgic affection for sock monkeys into a compelling study of DIY cultures, collecting, crafting, play theory and the tangled relationships between culture, nature and technology.
To cover the cost of materials there is a $10 workshop fee. This event is open to all ages, but children under 10 must be accompanied by helping hands. Please pre-register before Wednesday June 23, at 5pm by calling Anna Bald or Aubrey Burke at 250-383-8833 or email openspace@openspace.ca with ‘monkey business workshop’ in the subject field.
